Particle Health

Particle Health sells API access to patient records pulled from the national exchange networks to digital-health companies, payers, health systems and value-based-care groups. Its own site claims 270 to 320+ million patient records. Patients don't deal with it directly, and their records are pulled because a Particle customer asserts a permitted purpose. In April 2024 Epic stopped answering some of Particle's customers' record requests on the Carequality network. Particle said that 'potentially puts 6M+ patient encounters per year at risk' and called it a violation of Carequality's terms. Epic's reasons are not stated in the sources reviewed. Particle's website terms require binding individual AAA arbitration in New York with a class-action waiver.

Data sharing

Aggregates records from national networks and delivers FHIR R4 / C-CDA data, ADT feeds and pharmacy data to customers. The privacy policy says it 'will not sell, rent, license, or trade your Personal Information' (website data only), shares anonymized aggregated data with partners, and ignores Do Not Track.
