Freddie Mac holds or guarantees loan-level data — income, credit, property, payment history — on a very large share of American mortgages, and the homeowner has no relationship with it, did not select it, and generally cannot find out whether it holds their loan without using a lookup tool most people never hear about. Together with Fannie Mae it constitutes the largest concentration of household financial data in the country, held by government-sponsored enterprises under federal conservatorship rather than by any company a borrower chose.

Not independently confirmed this pass — standard binding arbitration + class action waiver expected for any direct retail account, where one exists.
Data sharing
VENDOR BREACH NOTICE (2020): in a July 7, 2020 notice filed with the California AG, Freddie Mac told borrowers that a due-diligence vendor it hired had suffered a ransomware attack earlier that year while holding their loan application data (name, address, SSN, date of birth, credit and bank account information); the vendor reported no evidence the encrypted data was accessed or taken, and Freddie Mac offered two years of credit monitoring (the Washington AG lists 596 Washington residents notified). The letter itself tells borrowers they 'probably haven't had direct interactions with Freddie Mac.' No breach notice or SEC Item 1.05 filing since 2023 was found. More generally, most large investment banks/asset managers/insurance-brokers primarily serve institutional clients (corporations, other financial institutions, government-sponsored entities) rather than individual retail consumers directly, meaning direct consumer Terms of Service exposure is limited or nonexistent for most of this group. Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac specifically are GOVERNMENT-SPONSORED ENTERPRISES that purchase mortgages from lenders rather than dealing with homeowners directly — most consumers have no direct account relationship with either.
