Check Into Cash and Speedy Cash now belong to CCF Holdings (CCFI), which became a subsidiary of Nasdaq-listed Katapult Holdings (KPLT) on August 11, 2026; CCFI bought Speedy Cash's U.S. business from CURO in July 2022. CCFI's own merger disclosure says some subsidiaries 'rely heavily' on lead generators for first-time borrowers. It also discloses a 2023 CFPB order against sister brand TitleMax over Military Lending Act compliance ($10M penalty plus $5.1M set aside for consumers) and a pending MLA class action that reached a settlement in principle in June 2026. California regulators separately resolved two rate-cap matters against Check Into Cash's California unit (2017 and 2022), without admission.

Terms
Arbitration
Not confirmed from the loan agreement this pass. The Speedy Cash website terms of use contain no arbitration clause. The S-4 shows Check Into Cash of California resolved 22 individual consumer arbitrations in 2025, so loan contracts likely include arbitration.
Data sharing
LEAD GENERATORS: the CCFI business section of the Katapult S-4 says 'Certain of our subsidiaries rely heavily on the use of lead generators or providers as a source of first-time-borrowers,' and notes that states and the CFPB have raised concerns about 'the flow of nonpublic, private consumer information between lead generators and lead buyers.' The family-of-brands privacy policy (effective 08/11/2026) says it collects data from 'lead providers, data brokers, advertising networks'. It says it does not sell data for money but may 'share' identifiers, protected characteristics, commercial information, online activity, sensory information and inferences with ad-tech companies for cross-context behavioral advertising. The policy is shared with Katapult (lease-to-own) and Aaron's affiliates and offers opt-outs of automated decision-making and profiling.
Fees and billing
California DBO (Dec. 2017) alleged Check Into Cash told consumers state law barred loans under $2,500, pushing them into larger loans outside the rate cap; refunds of $121,600 to 694 customers plus $18,000 in costs. California DFPI consent order (Nov. 2022): CIC acted as loan finder and marketer for a Utah bank (Capital Community Bank) program in which some $2,500-$10,000 California loans exceeded the 36%-plus-Fed-Funds cap; CIC agreed to stop such finder and marketing activity for 14 months and neither admitted nor denied violations. Parent-level: TitleMax's 2023 CFPB order also covered 'non-file insurance' fees, which it says it stopped charging in June 2021. Current APRs were not captured this pass.
